On Tuesday, the Super Eagles went out against the Pharaohs of Egypt in what has been regarded as one of the biggest games of the AFCON 2021 tournament in Cameroon. The Super Eagles recorded a 1-0 lead against the Pharaohs in the first half of the game, and it was a pleasant moment for all the supporters.

This is the Super Eagles 19th appearance in the AFCON tournament, and they are trying to win their fourth trophy, while their opponent Egypt are making their 23rd appearance.

In terms of recent form, the Super Eagles seem to have an edge over their opponent, as they have won four of their last six games, recorded one draw and lost one. But the Pharaohs have won three and lost two of their last six official games.

Both teams had stars to look out for in the game, but there were three players who were quite outstanding for the Super Eagles during the first half of the game.

The Nigerian midfielder, Moses Simon, kept the opponent on their toes throughout the first 45 minutes, and his impressive pace and speed played a huge part in the result the Super Eagles recorded in the first half. His threatening moves into the 18-yard box of the Egyptian team helped in destabilizing their defence.

It is difficult to talk about the impressive first half of the Super Eagles without mention of ‘Seniorman Kels.’ The Leicester City striker was a thorn on the flesh of Egypt’s defence until he was finally awarded with a chance to net his first goal of the tournament in the 30th minute of the game.

It seemed the Pharaohs striker Mohamed Sallah did not see a chance to play the game because of the presence of Kenneth Omeruo at the defence. There was little or no error from him throughout the first 45 minutes of the game, and we expect to see more of his brilliant performance throughout the tournament.

We wish the Super Eagles the best in this tournament, and we hope they will be able to bring home the trophy.
