Emgwen MP Alex Kosgei had a rough time on Friday controlling a group of rowdy youths that were threatening to chase him out of Nandi as he was campaigning for his senatorial bid.
The scuffles started after the crowd turned wild and started jeering him while demanding handouts or risks being forced out of the place.
The youthful MP was forced to plead with the rowdy youths, asking them to allow him to address them in vain. Kosgei urged them to listen to him, saying he was their son and no need of chasing him out of the campaign venue.
“I know there are people who have a lot of money and when I am here I am home. I humbly ask you to please exercise peace and love among others. Let us not fight or quarrel because of politics. Even if I don’t get votes I will still be a son of this community,” Kosgei pleaded.
The adamant crowd went on jeering him and threatening to disrupt his speech, even after the MP said he was on a peace mission and asking residents to calm down.
This comes days after the MP unveiled a fleet of cars he will use in his campaigns as he looks forward to facing off with the incumbent Samson Cherargei.
His brother Allan Kosgei, who unsuccessfully ran for Kesses constituency seat in 2017,is running for Nandi county gubernatorial seat and will face off with the incumbent Stephen Sang alias Tuga Tai
