The decision by president Mwai Kibaki to send troops to Somalia to fight the Al-Shabaab came as a surprise to many people. The Somalia-based terror group had been involved in several attacks in the country forcing the Kenyan government to act with speed.

In retaliation, the Somalia group also dispatched several terrorist groups to carry out retaliatory attacks on Kenyan soils. Among those who were given the responsibility to carry out the attacks was renewed terrorist Elgiva Bwire.

He was part of the Aj-jirah group that was responsible for attacks in Kenya and around east Africa. Among the missions were to attack the parliament, and UNEP offices, and to assassinate two top leaders in the country.

According to the report by the Monitoring Group, the targeted leaders were President Mwai Kibaki and Odm leader Raila Odinga. However, the attacks were thwarted after Bwire was arrested by the Anti-terrorism unit.

He was sentenced to life but an appeal saw him get only 10 years in prison. He was released last year before he was abducted again by unknown people in Nairobi.

Meanwhile, share with us your thoughts on the matter kindly.
