Protocols Broken in Nyeri as Uhuru, Ruto and Raila Lands in Style (Photos)

The official protocol was on Saturday broken as the three influential leaders landed in Nyeri for former President Mwai Kibaki’s final funeral service. This was after President Uhuru Kenyatta became the first leader to land at the venue ahead of DP William Ruto and Raila Odinga.

The head of state touched down some minutes to 10 o’clock in the morning on board two military choppers. He was received by CS Eugene Wamalwa and Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu

And minutes after Uhuru’s choppers touched down, Deputy President William Ruto’s chopper also made its way to the venue. Ruto, who was accompanied by his wife Rachael Ruto and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro touched down as President Uhuru was just leaving the field.

It was expected that Ruto would have landed first before President Uhurubut this was not the case.

But even before the dust settled on Ruto’s chopper, the former Premier Raila Odinga also made his way to Othaya Boys accompanied by his wife Ida Odinga.

The three leaders were, however, held up at Othaya Boys high school for some time as they awaited for the late former President Mwai Kibaki’s body to arrive at the venue.

However, when leaving the Othaya boys, Raila will be the first one, followed by Ruto and lastly Uhuru Kenyatta.

“The last person to arrive at the venue should be the head of state. Nobody comes after him in terms of protocol. The landing can happen in order of priority and that was the case in Othaya” said the commentator.
