Joining Azimio wasn’t my own decision, I consulted – Kalonzo –

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has told off his critics stating that his joining Azimio la Umoja Movement wasn’t his personal decision.

Kalonzo said he consulted his party which gave him green light and blessings to join ODM leader Raila Odinga’s led political outfit.

“Joining Azimio wasn’t my own decision, I made consultations. People spoke their minds and decided that we join the ‘three-legged stool’ coalition consisting of OKA, Azimio and Jubilee,” Kalonzo said.

The OKA principal addressed mourners during a burial ceremony at Kalumoni village in Machakos County on Wednesday.

He was accompanied by Machakos woman representative Joyce Kamene, Labor CAS Jackson Kalla, Machakos MP Victor Munyaka and Kiima Kimwe MCA Caleb Mule.

“We took a stand and no one should say I decided even though you have heard them throw shade at me calling me indecisive and also the world’s biggest idiot for supporting Raila. If it was in the past, I would have not have budged,” Kalonzo added.

“Since it has been decided that Raila should be supported, that’s what I will do. I have taken it out of my chest.”

Kalonzo said reaching the decision to support the ODM chief was difficult.

“This is because since 1963 we had Kamba ministers. But now, even though the community is big, the positions are small.  We have no Kamba minister,” he said.

He said President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto shared the government 50 – 50 when they took over leadership in 2013.

The Wiper leader questioned Munyaka why his Jubilee party rigged NASA out.

“Munyaka, why did you people steal the votes from us,” Kalonzo asked Munyaka.

“For ten years our unity has been out of the government. Tumeshindia kubembeleza for positions, ikionekana sawa. This legged stool one is Oka, then Jubilee and ODM. Do you think we are joking? These three will determine the direction we will all be taking as a country,” Kalonzo said.

“Now I want to ask my brother Munyaka, you know we have come a long way. Ask yourself if there is a wiper leader in Kapsabet, Eldoret, or Rift Valley.  Kambas have been mocked for being divided easily. Why can’t u join us Munyaka and Caleb? Come to where Kalonzo is for us to unite for our people’s good,” Kalonzo said.

“Many people started from Wiper party.  I’m asking every leader to join Wiper so that you can give me strength. This way, if Raila tries to joke or look down upon us, we will tell him ‘we can impeach you’. Do you understand?

Kalonzo said the Israeli government was powerful since they take about a year to elect a Prime Minister because everyone is negotiating for themselves.

He said Kambas shouldn’t be mocked.

“All we did was to take a step back and recollect ourselves to get stronger. The step we took back was a strategic move to position this community. People say that if Kalonzo was a Kikuyu, he would have become president long ago. In 2013 and 2017, we gave Raila more than 4 million votes. The respect people have for me brings votes,” Kalonzo said.
