Parents are not meant to bury their children, but that is the heartbreaking experience of a father from Kiambu county.
Anselim Mwaura wailed in pain following the untimely demise of his young daughter, Shine Wangui Ng’ang’a.
When did Mwaura’s daughter die?
The little girl passed away on Thursday, July 10, after a short illness, leaving her family utterly broken.

Wangui was Mwaura’s only child. As he spoke to TUKO.co.ke, he opened up about the emotional journey he is still struggling to come to terms with.
“Shine was only one year and one month old when she died. She was just at the teething stage when she went to be with the Lord. She fell ill on Wednesday, July 9, and the following day she was gone. We had rushed her to Ruiru Level 4 Hospital for treatment. I cannot even explain how devastated I am,” he said emotionally.
When was Mwaura’s daughter buried?
The little girl, described as the “star, source of joy, and happiness” to the fairly newlywed couple, was buried on Thursday, July 17, a week after her death.
She was laid to rest in Gatundu North in an emotional ceremony attended by several members of the clergy, family, and friends, as Mwaura explained.
“I will be celebrating my second wedding anniversary next month, and now, without a child. As a parent, you make so many sacrifices for your child, like sleeping late and giving up so much. She was my only child and my source of joy. I cannot even begin to explain how terrible and low I feel. I am so heartbroken,” he cried.
It was the worst experience, Mwaura says
Mwaura, a minister of God, shared a video on his TikTok account capturing the burial, which drew deep sympathy from netizens.
In one clip, mourners were seen restraining him as he attempted to throw himself into his daughter’s grave.
“It was the worst experience,” he said when asked to share what was going through his mind at that moment.
How is Mwaura coping with loss?
Everyone sympathised with him, understanding the pain and grief of a parent who had deeply bonded with his first child.
Despite the tragedy, he said he drew strength from the people around him, a support system that kept both him and his wife going.
“We have people from the clergy, close friends, and our best couple around. As tough as it is, they help us stay strong together with my wife. Life has to move on, and we trust God for a better future. It hurts, but we have to accept,” he said.

The devastated woman was shattered after giving birth to a stillborn, the baby had reportedly died in the womb nine hours before delivery.
