Meet The Man Who Ruto Trusted With CBC Review

President Willam Ruto appointed Raphael Munavu as the chairperson for the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) task force.

Prof. R. M. Munavu is the Chairman of the Kenya National Academy of Sciences (KNAS) and a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS). He is a Professor in Organic Chemistry at the University of Nairobi.

He obtained his B.A. from Kalamazoo College in 1970, his M.Sc. from Wayne State University in 1972 and his PhD from the University of Detroit in 1975. He served as the Vice-Chancellor of Moi University (1998-2002), and as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Finance) at the University of Nairobi (1994/98) and at Egerton University (1992/94).

He was Chairman of the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) between 2000 and 2010. He has been awarded Hon. Doctorate degrees by Kalamazoo College (2000) and Laikipia University (2013).

Munavu also held positions as the University of Nairobi’s and Egerton University’s deputy vice chancellor (finance and administration).

The professor studied chemistry from 1967 to 1970 at Kalamazoo College in Michigan, the United States.

He received his master’s from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and his PhD from the University of Detroit from 1972 to 1975.

Munavu also serves as the chairman of the South Eastern University College council and the Kenya National Academy of Sciences (KNAS) (SEUCO).
