Headache To Uhuru & Raila As Another Jubilee Party Legislator Joins Ruto’s UDA

Following the most recent action by one of their legislators, Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition party leader Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga and his political sibling former President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta today sustained a significant blow. Abdi Ibrahim Guyo, the county governor of Isiolo, and James Lowasa, his deputy, left the Jubilee Party on Friday, June 2, 2023, and formally joined the ruling party.

After Orange Democratic Movement party chairman Hon. Hasan Galma, Raila also took another hit. Hon. Mohamed Koto, speaker of the National Assembly, joined the group.

“I want to let Opiyo Wandayi, the head of the minority, know that we are not afraid. If they call for a by-election, I’m ready to run, Abdi Guyo declared vehemently.

Two weeks after the Head of State’s visit to Isiolo County for an ecumenical church service on May 21, Guyo moved from Jubilee to UDA.

Hon. Cleophas Malala, secretary general of the UDA party, formally welcomed Abdi Guyo.

“I’d want to officially welcome the governor to the party on behalf of my party leader, the President. He has joined with his deputy,” the Hon. Malala announced to the audience’s applause.

Nevertheless, Guyo’s decision to abandon the One Kenya Coalition party of Azimio La Umoja is likely to intensify the conflicts between Raila and President William Ruto. It’s important to remember that Raila allegedly warned Ruto not to steal lawmakers who support Azimio. Bipartisan negotiations have collapsed in this situation without producing any results.
