From Mzee Kenyatta’s 1.9 Billion Debt, Here’s Why Kenyans Are Not That Happy On Madaraka Day

While a majority of Kenyans are commemorating the 6th Madaraka Day at the comfort of their houses with their eyes glued at the television ahead of Ruto’s statement at Embu Stadium, it seems that the country is facing more than just a Strained economy and and weakening Kenyan shilling as pegged against the dollar.

According to Business Daily, Kenyans are celebrating this day with a debt of 9.4 Trillion Kenyan Shilling a staggering increase from the debt (1.9 Billion Kenyan Shilling) that was left behind by The late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

And with the impending tax bill at hand, it appears that Kenyans are hoping that the incumbent president William Ruto and his goverment will develop better ways to finance Their agendas rather that imposing money syphoning ways on Kenyans.

While it was reported that Kenya still has some headroom to borrow another lump sum of money from either the International Monetary Fund or The World Bank, it seems we Will have to wait and see if basic commodity prices will drop and more employment opportunities created in the process.

Therefore, What do you think should be the main focus of today’s Madaraka day? Leave a comment, let’s keep the discussion going. Remember to like, share and follow the creator for more entertainment news, political gossip, social insights and education related news.
