Former Cherang’any Member of Parliament Joshua Kutuny has now spoken on the ongoing Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance protests as he sends a coded message to former prime minister Raila Odinga.
While responding to Raila’s video of the opposition side of political divide demonstrators picketing in Nairobi on Thursday in social media, Kutuny argued that the initiative by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader and his key allies could not reduce living standards.
In his Facebook, Raila shared a video of his supporters picketing at Eastlands area of Nairobi. He then wrote “(We are at the sit) Tupo site” to accompany the video.
The demonstrations have proceeded for a number of days in the Kenya’s capital and other parts of the country, particularly places where Raila enjoys overwhelming support like Luo Nyanza. It kick-started on March 20th and the same has occasioned some negative ramifications one of them being lose of three lives, vandalism and looting of property and, paralysis of businesses and road transport in the affected areas.
Raila has announced that the pickets would resume until the government listens and implements his demands which entail reduction of cost of living, holistic involvement in appointment of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners and opening of 2022 election servers.
“Demonstrations are solutions far away from appropriate means of lowering living standards,” said Kutuny.
This comes months after the ex-lawmaker led a group of politicians in pledging to work with Kenya Kwanza government early this year, following the presidential victory of the current Head of State Dr William Ruto in 2022 general election.
