“The Last Words Uhuru Told Me Before I Blocked Him On Phone,” Ichungwa Reveals

Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichungwa who also doubles up as the National Assembly majority leader has now revealed that he last talked to former President Uhuru Kenyatta back in the year 2018. During an interview with the Standard, Ichungwa revealed that the former head of state reached out to him on phone after he reportedly contributed to a motion in parliament regarding a lucrative business in Kenya which was under scrutiny by the National Assembly.

According to the Kikuyu legislature, Uhuru’s exact words were “Ichungwa why are you fighting me?” The National Assembly majority leader alleged that Uhuru then gave him a choice between him (Uhuru) and Ruto after which he decided to shift allegiance to the then Deputy President and even blocked Mr. Kenyatta. Ichungwa argued that Uhuru might have thought that he (Ichungwa) was targeting the Mt Kenya leadership; a claim which he refutes. In fact, Ichungwa revealed that he was even slated for Ruto’s running mate in the 2022 General elections, but he declined because he has never had an ambition of serving beyond the National Assembly.
