The Kenya Police has today broken silence with a huge declaration regarding a newly institutionalized nationwide crackdown.
Addressing via a press statement dated today the 24th of March 2023, the Kenya Police has declared a mega nationwide crackdown on insurance covers on public service vehicles and private vehicles navigating along varied local Kenyan roads.
The Police have so far intercepted over 20 Public Service vehicles and private vehicles with various traffic offences. The operation which was conducted in conjunction with Directline Insurance Company Limited within Nairobi Central Business District was geared towards curbing rising cases of vehicles operating with invalid and fake insurance covers which continue to endanger the lives of Kenyans.
The Crackdown which started at 6 am was prompted today by a fatal accident that occurred on the 10th day of March this year which occured about 5.05 am along the Nairobi Naivasha Highway at Muthiga area in Kikuyu.
At the time of the accident, the Public Service vehicle did not have a valid Insurance cover. The owner further proceeded to obtain a cover for the purpose of defrauding the insurance . 2 people died while several others sustained serious injuries.
