Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi now claims plans are underway to arrest Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Party leaders Raila Odinga and retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Atandi alleged that President William Ruto was planning to arrest the two leaders over the planned protests against his government.
Raila has announced that countrywide anti-Ruto demonstrations will be held twice every week on Mondays and Thursdays.
UDA leaders led by party chairperson Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire have called for Raila’s arrest together with Uhuru claiming he is the one sponsoring the demos.
Through his official Twitter account, Atandi alleged Ruto has finally resolved to arrest the two political bigwigs assuming Raila’s supporters will only protest for a few days and continue with their normal daily hustles.
“Plans to arrest BABA @RailaOdinga & Pre Uhuru Kenyatta are in top gear. Statehouse has decided to take the risk because only luos will demonstrate for a few days and thereafter life goes on,” posted the ODM legislator.
However, Kabarak University lecturer Dr Michael Ndonye warned against arresting Raila saying Ruto should find alternative ways of containing the former Prime Minister.
“Entertaining the idea of arresting Raila and Uhuru is futile. Raila Odinga ni Kimonda you can’t arrest him. KK should sit down and have a creative and innovative way of netting a politician of over 40 years of experience,” Ndonye tweeted.
