Danny Myles, the young father who went viral on social media after he openly requested telecommunications giant Safaricom PLC to take care of his daughter when he is dead has died.
Danny had been battling soft tissue Sarcoma cancer for over one year and despite having his left hand amputated, the cancer kept spreading to other parts of his body his lungs, thus making him have difficulty breathing.
He was receiving palliative care at St Monicah hospital in Kisumu until his death yesterday night at around 9PM.
Miles was 24 years old and used to support hus family through motorbike business before the illness took a toll on him.
Two days ago, Danny Miles made a Facebook post stating that he got an attack again and really suffocated. He left everything to God. “It attacked again and i really suffocated. Whatever Happens, I Belong to God”
On February 18, he requested Safaricom and Kenyans of good will to help him buy a home concentrator worth 110,000 Kenyan shillings. Many Kenyans came out in large numbers and contributed money for the concentrator which would help him breath normally.
Divinar Nyangarisa who was among the well wishers constantly sharing Danny Miles story on her Facebook page with thousands of followers and helping him get treatment was heartbroken by the sad news. She said that it was hard to type RIP.
“Miles you can’t disappoint us like this. No. Hard to type RIP” She wrote.
Miles had expressed optimism in getting better. Weeks ago, he promised God that if he healed him, he would work for him every day of his life.
“My covenant with you Lord if you heal Me,I will Always work for you Everyday of my Life” Read his post on March 18.
Miles daughter was young and hadn’t joined school yet.
