Top Karua Ally From Nyeri Admits Who Between Ruto And Raila Won in The County

Former Nyeri senator aspirant Kabando Wa Kabando has admitted that his coalition leader Raila Odinga performed dismally in the Mt Kenya region.

This comes as Azimio claims to have performed very well in the region, alleging that Raila even defeated President William Ruto in some counties.

Among them is Nyeri County, where Azimio, relying on accounts of an alleged IEBC whistleblower, claims Raila scooped more votes than Ruto.

But Kabando, a close ally of Raila’s running mate in the race Martha Karua, has dismissed this narrative, confirming that Raila indeed lost to Ruto in Central.

The former Mukurweini Member of Parliament says that Azimio was largely unwanted, this being why he too lost when he associated himself with Raila.

“Our biggest curse is greed that breeds corruption, plus politics of chicanery. 2022, I vigorously campaigned and voted for Raila Odinga. I also vied for Senator Narc Kenya but lost largely for being in Azimio. For IEBC “whistleblower” to claim Baba defeated Ruto in Nyeri is a lie,” he says in a tweet.

He has added that he will remain a close ally of Karua and a supporter of Raila, but will not entertain politics of deceit and trying to lie to Azimio supporters.

“I’ll steadfastly support my party leader Martha Karua and opposition leader Raila Odinga in zealous oversight of Ruto’s regime. But I vehemently reject the politics of deception. Azimio ‘alumni’ must admit delusions of the so-called deep state system delivering victory for Baba,” be further says.

Azimio has also claimed to have defeated Ruto in the main presidential contest, with Raila claiming to have beaten Ruto with close to 2 million votes.

He has blamed former IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati for his defeat, accusing him of manipulating the results in favour of the President.
