Kenyans react after learning that there is a law that exempts Kenyatta and Moi family from paying tax. The details were shared by Dennis Itumbi.
The law exempts the two powerful families from paying tax on inherited land. According to the details shared by Dennis Itumbi, lawyer Kevin Kiarie and others had petitioned the parliament in 2021 over the issue but the last regime led by the then President Uhuru Kenyatta frustrated it.
“This section shall not apply to his Excellency Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and to his Excellency Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi.” Read the section of the law.
This comes as the government led by President William Ruto has declared that every Kenyan must pay his/her tax.
President William Ruto is working closely with Kenya Revenue Authority, KRA as the government seeks to collect Kshs 500 Billion by June 2023 and and extra Kshs 1 trillion in 24 months.
