The UEFA champions league tournament is back todays for its fifth round of the group stage fixtures.
In Today’s matches Salzburg will welcome Chelsea at Red Bull Arena stadium in Salzburg, Sevilla will play FC Copenhagen as Benfica welcomes former Italian Champions Juventus in a very tight match.
The big game of the day will see German side Burussia Dortmund welcome the English premier League champions Manchester city at Signal Iduna Park in Germany.
Manchester city have won 3 of their 4 matches in the tournament a 2-1 win against Dortmund in their first leg match at Etihad stadium.
With only 2 matches remaining to be played in the Champions league group matches before the knockout stage, alocot the big names are yet to qualify for the round of 16.
Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Ajax, AC Milan and Sevilla both are at the danger zone of being knocked out of this years edition.
Barcelona are in group C together with German Champions Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Plzen.
Bayern Munich has already qualified for the round of 16 topping the group with 12 points after winning all of the first 4 matches. Inter Milan is second with 7 points in four matches. Barcelona sits at the third position with 4 points in 4 matches. Plzen have not yet secured any point.
As Barcelona plays Bayern Munich tomorrow at Camp Nou in Barcelona they have no option but to win the match. If they fail to win and Inter Milan beats Plzen the chapter will be closed for the 5 times Champions league winners.
Juventus is also tied up at a difficult scenario. They are in group H with Paris St Germain, Benfica and Maccabi Haifa. PSG and Benfica are tied up at 8 points in 4 matches though PSG are topping the group to their goal difference.
Juventus and Maccabi Haifa both have three points too.
Today Benfica hosts Juventus at the Estadio de Luz in Lisbon in do or die march for Juventus. A win for Juventus will keep their round of 16 hopes alive but a lose with diminish their knockout stage hopes.
