If statistics are anything to go by then Christiano Ronaldo was and still is unparalleled during his tenure at Liverpool. He was a beast with a record 450 goals in 438 games. Benzema’s stats are also quite good 311 goals in 593 games but they are incomparable.
Putting the numbers aside though, it’s pretty clear to see that Benzema has lifted Real Madrid higher than Ronaldo ever did. Just think of it, during his time, Ronnie had a great team of players to work with. He had Benzema, Bale, Di Maria, Ozil, Luka Modric and Tony Kroos. The situation is very different for Benzema, Bale has had a myrad of injuries. Assensio and Hazard have been, sorry to say, a disappointment. Modric, Kroos and Casemiro are past their prime Leaving Benzema to literally carry the team on his own.
Benzema has also displayed unquestionable loyalty to the club. He arrived at the club as a 21 year old young fellow and now 16 seasons later he is now the hero of Bernabeu and the club’s talisman. No one would have thought that he would outlive Sergio Ramos or take Ronaldo’s mantle but he did and he is not about to stop any time soon. 15 years at a club like Real Madrid calls for some respect. I mean Benzema has faced criticism, boos and extreme pressure but he’s stayed put. You never hear rumors of transfers or high money demands from Benzema unlike with Ronaldo and Ramos who wanted to be valued above anything else.
Benzema has skill. Where he was once a brush young man he is now smooth and polished, kicking the ball. With extreme precision. He even makes the players around him better. He takes up place inside the opposition giving his teammates no choice but to make those passes.
Ronaldo might have been real Madrid’s star but Benzema is definitely a true hero at Bernabeu.
