Uhuru Kenyatta Issues New Directive on Bodaboda Riders

Speaking on Thursday 24th March, the Head of State ordered the Ministry of Health to establish a framework of cooperation to co-opt 26,000 volunteers from St John’s Ambulance to strengthen the primary healthcare and response inventions. President Uhuru Kenyatta had earlier ordered a crackdown on the bodaboda operators. However, the crackdown was later suspended by the National police service to allow for further consultations.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has therefore issued a fresh directive that will see at least 200, 000 bodaboda operators from different parts of the country trained. A thing that has impressed many people across the country.

Speaking three weeks after ordering a national wide crackdown on the sector, the Head of State directed the Ministry of Transport under Cabinet Secretary, James Macharia, to fast track the training process.

Importantly, President Uhuru Kenyatta noted that the training will be carried in conjunction with the famous St John’s Ambulance. Therefore it will include lessons such as first aid in a move that will boost the country’s first responder capacity. Indeed, it has impressed many people across the country.

According to the report shared, the bodaboda operators will be able to protect themselves adequately. And therefore they will be able to assist the country to minimize cases of emergencies.
