Ghanaian journalists aligned with Movement TV and Wontumi Radio have strongly criticized Raymond Archer, the journalist and current Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), over what they allege are politically-motivated actions under the current administration as reported by MyNewsGH.
Mr. Gordon Asare-Bediako, a journalist with Movement TV, took aim at EOCO, contrasting the handling of cases with that of the more professional Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
He expressed concern that EOCO has adopted a “vindictive” approach, calling into question the office’s impartiality under Archer’s leadership.
Asare-Bediako also warned Archer that his actions could have repercussions in the future.
“If Raymond Archer reasons deeply, he should know whatever he is doing today, somebody would come later and pay him back,” he cautioned, implying that the journalist’s decisions might come back to haunt him.
In a bold statement, Asare-Bediako advised Archer to prepare himself spiritually, suggesting that if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) returns to power, his “bail conditions would be Jesus Christ.”
The comment sparked controversy, with the journalist advising Archer to take precautionary measures, “On the day he hears there is a change of government, he should voluntarily sleep in the EOCO cells and lock it.”
