Uttar Pradesh to Run Communicable Disease Control and Dastak Campaigns in October
Uttar Pradesh will conduct a Special Communicable Disease Control Campaign from October 1 to 31, 2026, followed by the Dastak Campaign from October 12 to 31. The initiatives will focus on public awareness, cleanliness, identification of disease symptoms and timely treatment.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that ensuring a healthy and secure future for every family is an important responsibility of the government. He also highlighted the need to carry forward the legacy of healthy and safe living received from previous generations.
As part of the campaigns, health workers, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and employees from other departments will visit households across the state. They will engage with residents and provide information related to maintaining cleanliness, recognising symptoms of diseases and seeking treatment without delay.
The household-level outreach is intended to strengthen awareness about communicable diseases and encourage people to take timely preventive and medical measures. The campaigns will run during October, with the Dastak Campaign overlapping with the broader Special Communicable Disease Control Campaign from October 12 onwards.
CM Yogi also referred to the elimination of encephalitis in eastern Uttar Pradesh as an example of what can be achieved through coordinated efforts and public participation. He said the progress made in controlling the disease, which had previously been considered a major challenge in the region, demonstrated the role of sustained efforts and community involvement.
The campaigns place emphasis on prevention, early identification and timely treatment. Through direct interaction with households, frontline health workers and departmental personnel will seek to improve awareness about health risks and appropriate responses to symptoms.
The state government's approach combines administrative efforts with community participation to address communicable diseases. The two campaigns are scheduled to cover the month of October, with health personnel undertaking outreach activities at the household level.
The initiatives are aimed at strengthening public health awareness and encouraging residents to adopt preventive practices while seeking medical attention promptly when symptoms occur.
