One dead, one injured in Waupaca County crash
TOWN OF DAYTON, Wis. (WSAW) – One person is dead, and another is injured following a two-vehicle crash in Waupaca County on Sunday.
Just after 10 a.m. on Sunday, the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Highway 22 and Old Highway 22 in the Town of Dayton.
Preliminary evidence at the scene indicates a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander was driving north on Old Highway 22. The car failed to yield right of way to a 2017 Dodge Ram pick-up truck that was driving east on State Highway 22.
The Dodge hit the Chevrolet on the driver’s side and came to a rest in the south ditch.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 70-year-old man from Grand Chute, died at the scene. The Chevrolet’s passenger, a 65-year-old woman from Grand Chute, was taken to the hospital by ambulance for minor injuries.
The 45-year-old woman from Almond who drove the Dodge, and the five juvenile passengers in the car, were not hurt.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating. The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, Gold Cross Ambulance Service and Waupaca Area Fire District assisted on scene.
