South African woman Zukiswa Joyi, 37, has celebrated a significant personal milestone after getting married following years of publicly documenting her decision to remain a virgin until she found a husband.

According to a post shared by Ghbase on its official Facebook account on Sunday, October 4, 2026, Joyi became a married woman during a church wedding ceremony held on Saturday, October 3.

Her wedding came several months after she and her husband completed their Lobola ceremony in March, marking another important stage in their relationship.

Joyi had previously used social media to share details of her decision to abstain from sexual relations until marriage. During her journey, she openly discussed the challenges she encountered while waiting, including periods when she became discouraged and questioned whether she could continue with her commitment.

After finally getting married, the 37-year-old expressed appreciation to God for helping her remain steadfast throughout the years. She described her wedding as an answered prayer and celebrated the fact that the long period of waiting had eventually come to an end.

In a Facebook message following the ceremony, Joyi acknowledged that there were moments when she felt exhausted and considered giving up. However, she said her faith helped her remain committed to the decision she had made.

She also encouraged people who had chosen to wait until marriage to remain firm in their convictions. Joyi argued that maintaining sexual purity remains achievable despite the pressures and influences present in modern society.

She urged others not to allow negative influences to persuade them that waiting until marriage is impossible.
