Failed govt-opposition talks put Islamabad on high alert

The talks between the federal government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ended without an agreement on Sunday, as authorities tightened security in Islamabad ahead of the party’s long march, 24NewsHD TV reported.

Authorities have placed containers around key roads and near the Red Zone, while additional containers are being moved to entry points to restrict access to the capital.

Police personnel from Sindh have already arrived in Islamabad, while additional personnel from Punjab have been kept on standby.

The Islamabad administration has also sought to extend the deployment of 3,000 Pakistan Rangers personnel in the capital from October 5 to October 15 to assist the police in maintaining law and order.
