Gandapur says leadership has directed workers to avoid vandalism
A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) caravan led by former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur turned back after police blocked the route at Yarik Toll Plaza in Dera Ismail Khan.
Addressing party workers in Dera Ismail Khan, Gandapur said Section 144 had been imposed for three days and the leadership had directed workers to avoid vandalism and continue the movement peacefully.
“We cannot put workers at risk,” Gandapur said, adding that the decision to return was taken because the roads ahead were blocked and the caravan could not move forward.
He said decisions had to be based on the practical situation on the ground rather than “TikTok talk”.
Meanwhile, the PTI long march began from Lakki Marwat under the leadership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, with a large number of lawmakers and workers taking part.
In the first phase, the PTI workers from Lakki Marwat, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, South Waziristan, North Waziristan and Bannu are joining the march. The participants are scheduled to stay near Karak tonight.
