Trump vows GOP midterm victory: ‘We’re going to shove it up their a–‘
President Trump on Saturday pressed his supporters to go to the polls for next month’s midterms, promising a “big” GOP victory if they do so.
“You got to get out and vote. You got to get out. You got to vote for these guys,” Trump told a crowd of supporters at a rally in Ohio on Saturday.
“Just get out and vote. If you do that, we’re gonna win and we’re gonna win big and we’re gonna shove it up their a–,” the president added.
Republicans are facing a challenging road ahead politically as the midterms approach. Trump’s approval rating is down, the unpopular war in Iran has hit the seven-month mark, Democrats have been outperforming the GOP in recent polling and Americans have expressed concerns about the economy.
According to Decision Desk HQ, Trump’s approval rating was sitting at 38.5 percent on Sunday morning, while his disapproval rating was at 59.1 percent.
Fresh polling showing Democrats doing well in Senate battlegrounds and states that may lean more right has created optimism that the party could take both chambers of Congress in the midterms.
In a recent Quinnipiac University poll, 51 percent of registered voter respondents said that if Election Day was that day, they wanted Democrats to lock down the majority in the House, with 39 percent saying they wanted Republicans to capture the lower chamber.
The Quinnipiac poll also found that 62 percent of respondents said they are against Trump’s handling of the economy and that 62 percent were against his handling of foreign policy.
