Robbers Kill Kazo Veterinary Practitioner, Steal Property
The deceased, identified as Nuwagira Amos, a resident of Bwizi A Cell, Kijooha Ward, was found dead in his bedroom on Saturday morning.
Police said a motorcycle, a television set, a solar battery, Shs800,000 in cash and a smartphone were stolen from the house.
According to Rwizi Region police spokesperson Samson Kasasira, the incident occurred at an unknown time on Friday night and was reported at Buremba Police Station at about 7am on Saturday.
Police said Nuwagira’s wife, Bahikire Winnie, left home at about 9:30pm on Friday to attend night prayers, leaving her husband with their eight-year-old daughter.
Upon entering the house, she reportedly noticed that the motorcycle, registered UEW 890Y, a Bajaj Boxer, together with the television and solar battery were missing.
She then proceeded to the bedroom, where she found her husband dead.
Bahikire raised an alarm, attracting neighbours who later alerted police.
Kasasira said there were no signs of forced entry, suggesting that the deceased may have left the doors unlocked because he expected his wife to return from prayers.
“The body of the deceased was taken to Ruhooko Hospital for a postmortem,” Kasasira said.
Police said no arrests had been made by Saturday evening and that investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder and identify those responsible.
The incident is being investigated as murder by strangulation and aggravated robbery.
