Alcohol Bottles Found in Pickup After Fatal Mau Summit Accident
One person died in a road accident at Mau Summit on Sunday morning after a pickup truck collided with a small car and later crashed into a lorry parked on the roadside.
The accident happened at around 8am and involved the three vehicles.
According to eyewitnesses, the pickup hit the small car from behind before the driver lost control. The pickup then veered off the road and rammed into the stationary lorry.
The crash left one person dead. Police were called to the scene as they began investigations into what caused the accident.
During the inspection of the pickup, officers reportedly found several half-consumed bottles of alcohol and soft drinks inside the vehicle.
The discovery raised questions over whether the driver had been drinking before the crash.
Police are expected to establish whether alcohol played a role in the accident as part of their investigations.
The crash comes amid continued concerns over drunk and reckless driving on Kenyan roads, which has contributed to numerous fatal accidents.
