Woman advised against divorce over husbandβs 'reluctance' to go out
A woman in Sharjah sought a divorce after complaining that her husband showed little interest in taking her out for trips and leisure activities, Gulf media reported.
The case was discussed by Dr Radhia Hassan Al Raisi, director of the Family Guidance Department at Sharjah Courts, during a television programme.
According to Dr Al Raisi, the woman approached the Family Guidance Service and said her husband preferred staying at home and was not interested in taking her on outings or trips.
She termed her husband as generous, patient and well-mannered, but said his lack of interest in going out and enjoying leisure activities was causing her concern.
The Family Guidance Department advised the woman to go out with her siblings and family members and urged her not to seek divorce solely over the issue.
Officials also stressed the importance of compromise in married life and advised her not to allow differences over leisure activities to disturb the peace of the household.
Dr Al Raisi said differences in lifestyle and leisure preferences could sometimes cause concern between husbands and wives, but not every disagreement should lead to the end of a marriage.
She warned against turning minor differences into legal or family disputes, particularly when there was no serious problem in the marriage.
