Sri Lanka name 16-member squad for ODI tri-series
Sri Lanka Cricket has announced a 16-member ODI squad for the upcoming tri-nation series against Pakistan and England, with Kusal Mendis named captain.
The series will be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore from October 18 to 31 as Sri Lanka continue preparations for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.
Mendis will captain a squad featuring a mix of experienced players and emerging white-ball talent.
The squad includes Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Kamil Mishara and Pavan Rathnayake among the batting options, while Sahan Arachchige, Kamindu Mendis and Janith Liyanage are also part of the 16-member unit.
Former captain Dasun Shanaka and spin-bowling all-rounder Dunith Wellalage provide additional all-round options.
Sri Lanka’s bowling attack includes Maheesh Theekshana and wrist-spinner Sachindu Colombage, alongside pace bowlers Dushmantha Chameera, Asitha Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka and Eshan Malinga.
Pathum Nissanka’s participation remains subject to medical clearance, with the opener expected to travel with the squad only if declared fit.
The ODI tri-series will begin with Pakistan facing Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on October 18.
Pakistan will play England at the same venue on October 20, while Sri Lanka and England will meet on October 22.
The teams will then move to Lahore for the remaining matches, with the final scheduled at Gaddafi Stadium on October 31.
