Four Killed as Ambulance Carrying Soldier’s Mortal Remains Collides with Army Truck in UP

Four people were killed after an ambulance carrying the mortal remains of an Army soldier collided with an Army truck on the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur district on Sunday morning.

According to officials, the accident took place at around 8:30 a.m. The ambulance was transporting the mortal remains of Army Subedar Satyavan Fauji from Lucknow to Ghazipur when it collided with the Army truck. All four occupants of the ambulance lost their lives in the crash, police said.

The deceased have been identified as ambulance driver Jaspal, Rajan Singh, son of Bhupati, Gaurav Singh, son of Satyabhan, and Ram Samajh, son of Jaysingh.

Following the incident, police and local administration officials reached the spot. An investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision is underway.

The accident comes days after another fatal road crash on the Gorakhpur Link Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Ambedkar Nagar district, where a head-on collision between a bus and a trailer claimed four lives and left three others injured.

The accident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. on Friday near kilometre 85 of the expressway, within the jurisdiction of Jaitpur police station. The collision triggered panic, prompting local villagers to rush to the scene and alert the police.

Police teams arrived shortly afterwards and, with the assistance of local residents, launched a rescue operation to evacuate passengers trapped inside the bus. The injured were initially taken to the Community Health Centre in Nagpur for treatment.

Additional Superintendent of Police Dr Tejveer Singh said police received information about the collision through UP-112 at around 5:30 a.m. He said police personnel immediately reached the site and began rescue operations.
