Frierson, a junior at Hunters Lane High School, was walking with his younger brother after a football game at nearby Pearl-Cohn High School when he was shot, police previously announced.
The shooting happened on August 21 around 10:30 p.m after the game had ended and most of the crowd had left the area, police said. Witnesses told police that shots were fired from a white sedan with tinted windows.
Frierson was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died. His younger brother was not hurt.
Police previously said they had no reason to believe the shooting was connected to Pearl-Cohn High School or the football game.
Investigators have not announced a motive or released details about the allegations against the suspects/
Frierson's family remembered him as a loving son and brother, an outgoing student and a young man with plans to attend college and HVAC school. His family said he worked two jobs over the summer and hoped to one day own a business.
