Cristiano Ronaldo’s Insane Bugatti Chiron-Inspired $1.6 Million Watch Has a Miniature W16 Engine

The Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon Sapphire Crystal brings together the worlds of high-performance motoring and haute horlogerie, with its design drawing heavily from Bugatti’s iconic hypercar.
According to Jacob & Co., the timepiece takes inspiration from the Chiron’s beating heart- its 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine, which produces 1,500 PS and 1,600 Nm of torque between 2,000 and 6,000 rpm.
The watch recreates that powertrain in miniature, incorporating a working engine animation suspended by four coiled springs that act as shock absorbers.
At the push of a button, the mechanism comes to life, simulating the movement of the W16 engine as all 16 cylinders appear to fire.
Image Credit: Jacob & Co. / YouTube The watch’s transparent construction reveals the 578-component Caliber JCAM37, an ultra-luxury, manually wound mechanical movement with a 60-hour power reserve. A fuel gauge-style indicator shows how much of that reserve remains.
At its center sits a one-minute flying tourbillon inclined at 30 degrees, while a tubular structure inspired by the Chiron’s exhaust pipes and radiators surrounds the mechanism, reinforcing the connection between the timepiece and the hypercar that inspired it.
Rather than using conventional watchmaking materials, the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon Sapphire Crystal features a case machined from a single block of sapphire crystal.
Producing such a complex component is an exceptionally demanding process, requiring specialized equipment and extensive expertise.
The synthetic crystal must first be grown to the required size before being carefully cut, formed, ground, and polished into the finished case, with every stage requiring considerable time and precision.
An Instagram post showed Ronaldo, who reportedly owns at least three Bugatti hypercars and is an avid watch enthusiast, wearing an orange Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon Sapphire Crystal.

Speaking of tourbillons, MotorBiscuit recently reported the fascinating start-up sequence of the Chiron’s successor- the Tourbillon hypercar- that takes its name and inspiration from the 1801 watchmaking invention designed to counteract the effects of gravity and improve timekeeping precision.
In keeping with that theme, Bugatti gave the car a skeletonized instrument cluster made from more than 600 titanium, sapphire, and ruby components, designed to resemble the intricate movement of a mechanical timepiece and give the hypercar a timeless character.
Bugatti has made the Tourbillon’s start-up sequence feel more like operating a finely engineered mechanical timepiece.
The physical dials in the instrument cluster gradually come to life, providing a striking contrast to today’s screen-dominated dashboards, where digital displays show everything from speed to engine revs.
Even the beautifully crafted center console adds to the theater, with a start/stop button that looks ready to fire up the hypercar.
