Prepare for Heavy Rains for the Next 4-Days if You Live in the Following Parts of the Country
The Kenya Meteorological Service has forecast rainfall across several parts of the country between Sunday, October 4 and Thursday, October 8, with Nairobi among the counties expected to receive morning rains throughout the period.
According to the latest forecast, different parts of the country will experience varying rainfall patterns, with some areas expected to record moderate to heavy rains, afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
In the Coast region, Mombasa, Kilifi and Kwale are expected to receive moderate rains mainly during the afternoons and nights. Lamu is forecast to experience light showers in the mornings and nights, while Taita Taveta is expected to receive light rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday.
Across northeastern Kenya, Wajir is expected to receive morning rains throughout the five-day period, while Mandera could record light rainfall on Monday and Tuesday. Marsabit is forecast to experience light morning rains throughout the period, with additional light showers expected at night.
Isiolo is expected to receive light afternoon showers on Sunday and Monday. Meru could experience morning rains throughout the period alongside light afternoon showers, while Tharaka-Nithi and Embu are expected to receive morning rains and afternoon showers.
Kitui, Machakos and Makueni are also expected to receive light morning rains throughout the forecast period, with afternoon showers expected from Monday through Thursday.
In Central Kenya, Nyeri is forecast to receive light rains on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, with moderate rainfall expected on Tuesday morning. Kirinyaga and Murang’a are expected to receive morning rains throughout the five days.
Nairobi and Kiambu are also expected to experience morning rains throughout the forecast period. The two counties could receive moderate afternoon showers on Wednesday and Thursday.
The weather department has also forecast rainfall and thunderstorms across parts of Western Kenya and the Rift Valley. Trans Nzoia and Elgeyo-Marakwet are expected to experience thunderstorms from Monday to Wednesday.
Kericho, Bomet, Nandi and Baringo are expected to record similar weather conditions, while Kakamega and Vihiga could receive afternoon rains accompanied by thunderstorms from Monday to Thursday.
Bungoma is expected to receive afternoon rainfall on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, while Busia could experience similar conditions on Tuesday and Thursday.
In the Lake Victoria Basin, Siaya, Kisumu and Homa Bay are expected to receive heavy rainfall throughout the five-day period, particularly during the afternoons.
The forecast comes as Kenya enters the October-December rainfall season, with the weather department continuing to monitor expected changes in rainfall patterns across the country.
