Kazakhstan President calls for human-centred AI revolution

ASTANA   –  President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev yesterday called for a human-centred artificial intelligence revolution. He urged the country to accelerate the deployment of AI across the economy while ensuring that technological transformation is accompanied by stronger safeguards, talent development and international cooperation. The President made the remarks during his visit to an exhibition showcasing advanced projects in artificial intelligence, digital technologies and robotics as part of the AI & Digital Bridge 2026 International IT Forum in Astana. The forum, being held from October 1 to 3, has brought together technology companies, entrepreneurs, investors, researchers and government representatives from around the world to explore the future of artificial intelligence, digitalisation and emerging technologies. Tokayev reviewed a range of projects aimed at expanding the use of AI across economic sectors and public administration, strengthening Kazakhstan’s domestic digital infrastructure and consolidating country’s position as a regional technology hub. During the exhibition, Head of State was presented with the AI-Enabled University model developed by Qazaq AI Research University, along with the Trusted Kazakhstan and ALFA projects and new functions of the national Aitu messenger. The exhibition also showcased intelligent solutions developed by Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund and Higgsfield.ai, as well as plans for the development of the Data Center Valley cluster.

The projects presented to the President reflect Kazakhstan’s broader drive to move beyond individual digital initiatives towards the large-scale integration of artificial intelligence into the country’s economy and public administration.

Tokayev has outlined an ambitious objective of transforming Kazakhstan into a fully-fledged digital nation, with artificial intelligence playing an increasingly important role in economic modernisation and the development of new industries. The 2026 forum has placed practical applications of AI, physical AI and robotics, digital infrastructure, investment, new professions and talent development at the centre of its agenda.

A major element of the President’s technology agenda is the creation of an ecosystem capable of supporting AI development over the long term. This includes expanding research and education partnerships, strengthening the domestic pool of specialists and promoting AI literacy among the wider population. Particular emphasis is being placed on developing international networks of AI schools and academic partnerships to prepare a new generation of specialists capable of working across rapidly evolving digital industries. The development of human capital is being treated as a central component of Kazakhstan’s AI transformation, with the country pursuing broader AI literacy and skills development to ensure that technological progress benefits society and the wider economy. At the same time, the rapid expansion of AI has brought cybersecurity, digital fraud and other emerging threats to the forefront of Kazakhstan’s digital policy.

The President has stressed the importance of establishing effective safeguards and common testing standards to address emerging digital threats, including cyberattacks, deepfakes and digital fraud.

The President’s emphasis on international partnerships comes as Kazakhstan seeks to position itself as a regional technology hub, leveraging its geographical location, digital infrastructure, human capital and growing technology ecosystem.

The AI & Digital Bridge forum has developed into a major regional technology platform, bringing together startups, technology companies, investors, researchers and policymakers to discuss emerging technologies and opportunities for digital cooperation.

The 2026 edition is expected to attract more than 20,000 participants and over 100 technology companies, further highlighting Kazakhstan’s ambitions to build an internationally connected technology ecosystem. The exhibition highlighted the central direction of Kazakhstan’s emerging AI strategy , expanding the practical use of artificial intelligence across the economy, developing national digital infrastructure, building a skilled human-capital base, strengthening digital security and expanding international technological partnerships.
