Oct 1, 2026 | 12:30 PM Oct 1 (Reuters) ā Ukraine has deployed its FP-7 tactical ballistic missile in combat for the first time, āPresident Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Thursday.
āUkrainian ātactical ballistic missile FP-7. First combat use,ā Zelenskiy wrote on Telegram. āThank you for the result. Next ā production.ā
He did not say where the āFP-7 āhad been used ā in combat or against ā what target.
Russia frequently uses ballistic missiles in strikes on Ukrainian targets, and Ukraine has viewed development of its āown tactical ballistic missiles as an important element in ensuring its defence ā needs.
Zelenskiy praised the test ā results of tactical ballistic missiles āearlier this year, saying they showed good āpotential for their use by the āmilitary.
Ukrainian military analysts describe the FP-7 as a short-range missile with a range of about 200 km (125 miles).
The missileās ā manufacturer, Fire Point, says it is being developed as a ballistic interceptor within the European ā missile ādefence programme Freyja launched this ā year.
Ukraine wants a prototype for āthe āFreyja European anti-ballistic system to ābe ready ā in the first half of next year, Davyd Aloian, deputy secretary of Ukraineās National Security and Defence Council said in July.
