Young people from across Ghana will take centre stage today as the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Mr George Opare Addo, convenes the National Youth Forum 2026 in Accra.

The forum, scheduled for today, at 9 a.m. at the Kofi Ohene Konadu Auditorium of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), is intended to provide young people with a direct platform to voice their concerns, priorities, ideas and expectations and contribute to discussions that could influence policies and programmes affecting their lives.

The importance of the engagement is underscored by Ghana’s youthful population, with more than 70 per cent of the population aged 35 years and below. The forum, therefore, seeks to ensure that this significant demographic has a meaningful voice in discussions on the country’s development.

Mr Opare Addo will be joined by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Abdulai Ayariga; CEO of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale; CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Eric Adjei; and Director-General of the National Service Authority, Ruth Dela Seddoh.

The engagement will provide young people with the opportunity to interact directly with the leadership of institutions responsible for implementing key youth-focused policies, programmes and opportunities.

The Ghana Youth Federation is also partnering the Ministry to broaden participation and bring the perspectives of young people from diverse backgrounds into the national conversation.

The Ministry has further partnered YFM, a radio station popular among young audiences, to ensure that the conversation reaches young people beyond the venue.

Through its stations in Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi, as well as its affiliate and digital platforms, YFM will amplify the initiative and extend its reach to a wider youth audience.

Young people who are unable to attend the forum at UPSA will also have the opportunity to follow and participate in the discussions. The event will be livestreamed on the Ministry’s social media platforms and carried live across major media platforms in the country.

The Ministry is inviting young Ghanaians to attend, speak up and contribute to a national conversation that places their voices, needs and aspirations at the centre of Ghana’s youth development agenda.
