Christian Tetteh Yohuno – IGP

Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), has promoted 25 police personnel for their exceptional performance, which led to the busting of suspects in three robbery and drug incidents in the country.

Their efforts led to the arrest of six suspects linked to a robbery incident in which GH¢300,000 was allegedly stolen from a victim along the Portor-Kawempe stretch of the Kintampo-Buipe Highway on July 19, 2026.

The arrests also include four suspects allegedly linked to a robbery incident at Wassa Akropong in the Western Region as well the busting of 866 parcels of suspected cocaine at the Tema Harbour.

Chief inspectors Bede Nwinbomeh and Joe Tetteh have gained automatic entry to the Police Academy.

The others are General Seargents Elijah Ndaga Yinimi and Kaifan Sulemana: General Corporals Evans Owusu Ansah, Jonathan Tansang; General Lance Corporals Osei Christopher Bonny, Francis Kyei, Francis Ofori, Dominic Anim ad Isaac Asante promoted to their next ranks.

The rest are General Constables Adam Bakari Alhassan and Mark Bakai, Detective Chief Inspector Frank Dzah, Detective Inspectors Edem Ametowoga, Abroso, and Vincent Dankwah and Detective Sergeants Salifu Yakubu and Sameul Mordzifa.

Six other personnel whose name were not given have been promoted to their next ranks for their exemplary roles in the fight against crime.

Speaking to the media on Monday the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Grace Ansah- Akrofi, Director General, Public Affairs Directorate, said the IGP continued to assure personnel that the Ghana Police Service would continue to acknowledge and honour personnel who performed creditably in ensuring security, law and order.

She said the promotion was an assurance to personnel that  the Police Administration “sees what they do, appreciates what they do, and will continue to honour and acknowledge personnel who distinguish themselves.”

DCOP Ansah-Akrofi said the promotion should encourage others to continue to work hard for the good people of Ghana and that their hard work would not go unacknowledged.
