SMT Ghana launches Dongfeng product range at Kumasi open day

SMT Ghana has officially introduced the Dongfeng range of commercial vehicles to customers and industry stakeholders at a well-attended Open Day event held at its Kumasi branch, reinforcing the company’s commitment to providing innovative, reliable and cost-effective solutions for Ghana’s construction, logistics and transportation sectors.

The event brought together customers, industry professionals and other stakeholders for an interactive showcase of the Dongfeng product range.

Participants had the opportunity to view the vehicles on display, learn about their capabilities and engage with SMT Ghana’s sales and technical teams on their suitability for various operational requirements.

Delivering the welcome address on behalf of the Managing Director, Amaury Lescaux, the Deputy Director for Parts and Logistics, Mr. Joseph Boadu, expressed appreciation to customers, partners and other stakeholders for their continued support and confidence in SMT Ghana.

“Today is more than just the showcasing of the Dongfeng range in Kumasi; it is a celebration of innovation, growth, and our commitment to providing quality solutions that meet the needs of our customers,” Mr. Boadu stated.

He emphasised that the launch demonstrates SMT Ghana’s commitment to strengthening relationships with its stakeholders while delivering quality products and services across the markets it serves.

Dongfeng: Built for Diverse Applications

The highlight of the event was a comprehensive presentation of the Dongfeng product range by Mr. Samuel Incoom, Sales Director for Non-Mining at SMT Ghana. He encouraged players in the construction, logistics and transport industries to consider Dongfeng vehicles, citing their durability, efficiency, versatility and strong potential for return on investment.

Key Dongfeng models featured at the event included: The DF KC 8×4 420 HP Tipper-Designed for mining and heavy-duty haulage applications. The DF KC 6×4 375 HP Tipper-Suitable for construction and general haulage. DF KC 6×4 380 HP Tractor Head-Designed for heavy-duty transportation and the DF KC 6×4 420 HP Tractor Head-Suitable for heavy-duty haulage and logistics.

Mr. Incoom also highlighted the wider Dongfeng range, which provides solutions for mining and construction, general and heavy-duty haulage, long-distance transportation, refrigerated and temperature-controlled transport, logistics and distribution, and other specialised commercial applications.

This broad range enables customers to select vehicles tailored to their specific operational requirements, positioning Dongfeng as a versatile option for businesses seeking reliable and cost-effective transportation solutions.

“Dongfeng operates within the SMT network across 17 countries in Africa, ensuring reliable aftersales service. Spare parts are readily available across these markets, and we provide training for technicians and drivers to ensure optimal performance and efficiency,” Mr. Incoom noted.

He further stressed the importance of value for money, particularly for businesses operating in a competitive environment where investment decisions must deliver measurable returns.

“We are not just selling products; we are offering solutions. Dongfeng has a rich history in China, making it a trusted and reliable brand,” he added.

Comprehensive Solutions and Flexible Financing

Speaking during an interview, Mrs. Hilda Peasah, Marketing and Communications Director of SMT Ghana, encouraged prospective customers to explore partnership opportunities with SMT Ghana, highlighting the company’s comprehensive portfolio of solutions for the construction, mining and transportation sectors.

She also highlighted SMT Ghana’s flexible and innovative financing options, designed to make equipment and vehicle acquisition more accessible while helping customers achieve sustainable returns on their investments.

The Open Day also provided an opportunity for existing customers to share their experiences with the Dongfeng brand. Customers who gave testimonials spoke positively about the vehicles’ quality, efficiency and value, with several recommending the brand to other businesses operating within the construction and transportation sectors.

The event concluded with a raffle draw, adding an engaging and memorable finale to the day’s activities.
