The presidential running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 General Elections and former Minister for Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has urged party members to prioritise unity and loyalty as the NPP prepares for its Presidential Primaries.

Dr Opoku Prempeh, affectionately known as Napo, has in recent weeks been holding a series of special meetings with regional and constituency executives of the NPP in the Ashanti Region.

The engagements form part of his efforts to galvanise peace, strengthen cohesion, and reignite confidence among the party’s grassroots as preparations intensify for the 2028 General Elections.

He emphasised that the NPP’s success depends on maintaining internal harmony and a shared focus on the broader mission of recapturing political power.

“We are all members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP: Development in Freedom), and that bond must remain unbroken during and after the Presidential Primaries,” Dr Opoku Prempeh stated.

Dr Opoku Prempeh also urged the regional leadership to throw their full support behind Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, whom he described as the best candidate to lead the NPP to victory in 2028.

He stressed that Dr Bawumia represents continuity, competence, and the renewed energy needed to restore public confidence in the party.

“We cannot afford to let our passion for individual candidates make us lose sight of the greater mission. A strong NPP is one that stands united behind the elephant, regardless of who becomes flagbearer,” he added.

Dr Opoku Prempeh concluded by encouraging all members to remain disciplined and focused, noting that unity of purpose would be the NPP’s greatest asset heading into 2028.
