GOIL PLC has issued a public disclaimer over a fake video circulating on social media, falsely portraying its Group CEO and Managing Director, Edward Abambire Bawa, as announcing a supposed “government-backed gold project” or “customer reward scheme.”

In a statement issued on November 5, 2025, the leading indigenous oil marketing company described the content as “fraudulent, deceitful, and clearly generated using artificial intelligence (AI) for malicious purposes.”

GOIL categorically denied engaging in any gold-related venture or customer reward programme, urging the public to disregard the fabricated material entirely.

“GOIL PLC is not undertaking, and has not undertaken any gold-related venture, government-backed project, or customer reward scheme as alleged in the said video,” the statement stressed.

The company condemned what it called an act of digital impersonation intended to exploit public trust and tarnish its long-standing reputation. It further assured that it is working with relevant security and cybercrime authorities to trace and prosecute those behind the cyber fraud.

GOIL reaffirmed its commitment to ethical business practices, transparency, and the protection of its customers and stakeholders.

The company advised the public to verify all information about its products and services through its official website www.goil.com.gh or verified social media platforms.
