Regina Daniels’ mother, Rita Daniels, has refuted claims that she pressured her daughter into marrying billionaire politician, Ned Nwoko. In a resurfaced interview now making rounds on social media, she insisted that the marriage was Regina’s personal decision, not hers.
According to Rita Daniels, she was unaware her daughter was romantically involved with Nwoko until their relationship was already serious. She revealed that although she initially disapproved, she ultimately felt powerless to end their bond.
“I didn’t know when they started the relationship. I was the last person to find out. When I confronted her, she became defensive and stubborn about it,” she recounted.
Rita explained that after Nwoko gained political office, he formally informed her of his intention to marry Regina. Feeling shocked and conflicted, she said she had to stand by her daughter regardless of her personal reservations.
“I was weak, but what was I supposed to do? Should I abandon my own child? I chose to stand with her,” she added.
This old interview has resurfaced in the heat of Regina Daniels’ current marital crisis. On October 18, 2025, the actress fled her matrimonial home, accusing her husband of physical and emotional abuse. A viral video showed Regina in distress, claiming she no longer felt safe in her marriage and wanted to “return home and be treated like a queen.”
Shortly after, rumours spread that Nwoko had sent thugs to assault and eject her from their residence. Nwoko responded by denying the allegations, instead accusing Regina of substance and alcohol abuse.
The controversy has also revived an old post from Regina’s father, Barrister Jude Ojeogwu, who had publicly opposed the marriage from the beginning. He condemned the union and questioned why his daughter was allowed to marry a man more than twice her age.
Meanwhile, social media opinions are divided. While some believe Rita Daniels supported the marriage from the start, others accuse her of not protecting her daughter.
