- SOLARWORLD Africa and IBC Solar South Africa have become the first preferred distributors of Tongwei solar PV panels in South Africa.

SOLARWORLD Africa and IBC Solar South Africa have announced a strategic partnership with Chinese solar manufacturing giant Tongwei Co., Ltd., bringing the company’s premium photovoltaic modules to the South African market for the first time through preferred distribution channels.
Headquartered in Chengdu, Tongwei is one of the world’s largest vertically integrated solar manufacturers, controlling the value chain from high purity polysilicon production through to finished photovoltaic modules. The company is recognised as a BloombergNEF Tier 1 manufacturer, a widely accepted benchmark of financial strength and bankability within the global solar industry.
With annual module manufacturing capacity of around 90 GW and N type solar cell production capacity reaching 150 GW, Tongwei has established itself as a major supplier to utility scale, commercial and residential solar markets worldwide. The company is also consistently ranked among the world’s largest corporations in the Fortune Global 500.
The first shipment received by SOLARWORLD Africa and IBC Solar South Africa in May 2026 includes the Tongwei TNC 2.0 TWMNH 66HD 635 module, a high output N type TOPCon module designed for commercial, industrial and utility scale applications.
The TNC 2.0 platform incorporates several proprietary technologies aimed at improving efficiency, reliability and long term energy yield, including Zero Busbar interconnection technology, Tongwei Passivated Edge technology, Stencil Printing technology and Poly Tech optimisation technology.
