Benjamin Asare
Black Stars goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, drops to his knees on the pitch, proudly flashing the Shatta Movement (SM) hand sign with the emblem boldly displayed on his SM-branded shirt as he celebrates Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup after their win over Comoros.
Benjamin Asare, over time, has expressed his admiration for Dancehall Artiste Shatta Wale, hence paying tribute to Shatta Movement, a popular Ghanaian music group.
He showed his support by wearing a Shatta Movement-branded shirt and flashing the group’s signature hand sign after the match.
This gesture, according to many online, indicates Asare’s admiration for the music group and his desire to share that enthusiasm with fans after the Black Stars significant victory over Comoros.
In a post on Facebook by Shatta De Barber, a supporter of the music group, posted the goalkeeper in his Shatta Wale moment, causing massive reactions online.
Ghalah Tuga under the post wrote, “Shatta Wale look sharp, man needs you, just dash am one house and car plus money because the love he is showing you is massive (sic).”
Hussein Abdullai also wrote, “The difference is clear, Kudus is Bhim national, and he did Bhim sign in club level, and this guy do his SM sign in national assignments, boii let’s wait and see.”
Asare spotted a bold new haircut featuring Shatta Wale’s iconic hand gestures and the inscription ‘SM 4 Lyf’ before the Ghana vs Comoros World Cup qualifier.
Asare says he listens to Shatta Wale’s music before games to stay focused and composed, and he is affectionately called “Shatta” or “SM” due to his love for Shatta Wale’s music.
Shatta Wale has expressed his support for Asare, assuring him of the Shatta Movement fan base’s backing and encouraging him to remain faithful to God.
