A Ghanaian self-styled king and leader of an “African tribe” in a woodland on the Scottish border, Kofi Offeh, has been arrested by immigration enforcement officers.

Offeh, known as King Atehehe of the Kubala Kingdom, was arrested after several attempts by law enforcement authorities to have the ‘African tribe,’ comprising three people, evicted from the land they were said to have encroached upon.

Prior to Offeh’s arrest and eviction from the woodlands, he stated that his decision to exit the area was not up to man, adding that man has no power over his kingdom.

According to him, his tribe’s actions are solely defined by his creator and are in alignment with him.

“All nations belong to the kingdom of Kubala. All lands belong to the Kingdom of Kubala for it was given to us by the creator of the heavens and the earth and we dwell safely wherever we choose to be.

“Our ways are the ways of the creator, not us. If the creator wants us to move or leave this space because we are done with what we need to do, we shall leave. That will not come from man, for man has got no power over the Kingdom of Kubala,” Offeh said.

Offeh, aged 36, was arrested alongside his queen, Jean Gasho, a 42-year-old Zimbabwean, and his so-called handmaiden, Kaura Taylor, from Texas.

The trio had set up a makeshift camp near Jedburgh, which they described as their “kingdom.”

Offeh and his group claimed they were reclaiming the woodland, which they alleged had been stolen from their ancestors 400 years ago.
