The government has announced an additional GH¢400 on every 64kg bag of cocoa for farmers for the 2025/2026 crop season.

Farmers had been earning GH¢3,225 per 64kg bag of cocoa since the start of the season.

The decision was approved by the Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC), chaired by the Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.

With the additional GH¢400, Ghanaian farmers will now earn GH¢3,625 for every 64kg bag of cocoa.

Government raises cocoa producer price to $5,040 per tonne for 2025/2026 season

Speaking at an emergency press conference in Accra on October 2, 2025, Minister of Finance Dr Cassiel Ato Forson said the review will help improve the financial well-being of farmers.

He explained that changes in the government’s forecast informed the Producer Price Review Committee’s decision to adjust the price for farmers.

“This means that for every bag purchased, the cocoa farmer will receive an additional GH¢400. Simply put, for every bag a cocoa farmer sells, they will get GH¢400 more,” he said.
