The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a strong statement disassociating itself from recent remarks made by two of its prominent regional chairmen, cautioning that their views do not reflect the party’s official stance.

In a press release signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, and released on Sunday, the NPP clarified that comments made by Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, and Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, were personal opinions and not indicative of party policy.

The statement emphasized that no individual, regardless of position, has the authority to unilaterally oversee the compilation of polling station albums. The party noted that this process is strictly governed by internal regulations aimed at ensuring fairness and transparency. It added that the National Secretariat will soon issue detailed guidelines to direct the exercise.

Frimpong called on members, especially those at the grassroots level, to disregard any misleading narratives and remain focused on preserving unity within the party. He warned against internal divisions that could arise from unverified or unofficial statements.

Addressing rumors regarding the party’s presidential primaries, the NPP refuted claims that the date for its national congress—set for January 31, 2026—is intended to favor any specific candidate. The party explained that the date was chosen by the National Council after broad consultations and is part of a larger strategy to strengthen its position ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The party concluded by appealing to members to uphold discipline and cohesion as it moves forward with internal preparations and national campaign planning.
