‘I love Stonebwoy; his talent is beyond the shores of Ghana’

A video of late Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, touting Stonebwoy as his favourite Ghanaian musician has resurfaced online following his untimely death in a military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, along with seven others.

Following his demise, an old interview of the late Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, minister has resurfaced online, where he expressed his love for Stonebwoy, labelled him as extremely talented.

The late politician added that the BHIM Nation boss’ creativity is beyond the shores of Ghana.

“I am a Bhim, I love reggae. Reggae means message. I love Stonebwoy, and I think he is too talented, and I think his talent is beyond the shores of Ghana,” he said.

The late Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed also shared his favourite song from Stonebwoy.

He said Stonebwoy’s “Top Sanka” is his favourite song due to the message in the music.

“Top Sanka is my favourite song. It was supposed to be Sanky,” he added.

On August 6, 2025, a military helicopter carrying three military officers and government officials who were on a national assignment, crashed en route to the launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) at Black Park, near the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium in the Ashanti Region.

The brutal incident claimed the lives of Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Samuel Sarpong, former Central Regional Minister, and Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate.

In addition to Flying Officer Twum-Ampadu, the helicopter’s crew also included Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
