Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has acknowledged that 2025 has presented significant challenges for the government in managing the economy, describing the year as particularly tough for the country’s economic team.
Speaking in an interview with Joy FM on Thursday, July 24—shortly after presenting the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Statement to Parliament—Dr. Ato Forson acknowledged the severity of the difficulties but emphasized that the economic management team remains focused and committed to navigating them.
“This year has been difficult; maybe we are not saying it. It has been difficult for us, the economic managers,” he said. “It’s only that we’re focused and we are dealing with the situations.”
His comments come as the Mahama-led administration continues efforts to stabilise the economy, improve public financial management, and build on recent gains in key macroeconomic indicators.
Earlier in Parliament, the Finance Minister unveiled a range of fiscal and structural reforms aimed at reinvigorating growth and enhancing the country’s economic resilience.
Despite the ongoing hardships, Dr. Ato Forson reiterated the government’s resolve to steer the nation toward recovery and long-term stability.
