Respect party decisions, stop media rants – Adutwum’s campaign team

The campaign team of NPP Flagbearer aspirant, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has called for an end to public media discussions regarding the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) internal decision to select its flagbearer ahead of other party executives polls.

The NEC’s decision to prioritise the selection of a flagbearer has stirred debate within some sections of the party.

However, the Adutwum Camp insists that such matters are best addressed internally, in line with party procedures.

Speaking in an interview on The Big Issue on Saturday, June 21, 2025, Yaw Opoku Mensah, spokesperson for the Adutwum Campaign Team, expressed concern about what he described as unnecessary media commentary surrounding the National Executive Committee’s (NEC) approach to the party’s internal elections.

“Once there is another window that we can have the discussion on the approach to selecting the flagbearer and the other executives, I think the back and forth within the media space seeking to address what seems to be a family matter, will not inure to anybody’s benefit, and it doesn’t add up to the reputation of the party,” he said.

Mr. Opoku Mensah emphasised that the party’s unity and image should be preserved through internal dialogue rather than external debates.

“I think that we need to look at the issue as it has been brought to us, and if we have a difficulty, we can voice it out at Congress. But once the executives have taken a decision, it is a collective decision and that is binding on us. Once we are members of the party we swore to be part of, if a decision comes up, we have to embrace it and look at the modalities on how best we can use that in our interest,” he added.
